Book Review:

So it’s been a while since I read this book called Curly Girl and the no “poo” (as in shampoo) movement. The baking soda and water as the shampoo step doesn’t completely work for me because of my dry scalp. It is great as a detoxifier as it will gently clean my hair of all yucky residues. But for the dry scalp it doesn’t do anything. So I’ve found for myself, I still have to use a dandruff shampoo. The apple cider vinegar rinse works well as the conditioner step. It helps keep my hair light, bouncy and the curls defined. Though I do like to do a conditioning treatment once a week to keep the hair feeling luxurious. If you have curly or wavy hair & are frustrated with trying to figure out which chemicals are not good for you in the ingredients lists, you might want to try this method. It’s easier on the pocketbook & on the mind. Towards the end of the book there are DIY recipes for hair masks, and tutorials on how to style your curly hair.
