Pure Anada is a Canadian cosmetics company with its headquarters in Manitoba. I’d heard about them from reading Adria Vasil’s book Ecoholic Body. I finally had a chance to try some of their products.

Loose Mineral Foundation:

Ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Silica, Boron Nitride, Iron Oxides, Ultramarines Note: Deeper, global foundation shades do not contain Titanium Dioxide.

I really liked that you could get little samples of the foundation to try. This helps the consumer find the right colour without having to waste both products and money. There’s a good range of shades for every skin tone. I found my ideal shade but I like a more matte look and these foundations were a bit shiny for my skin. For someone with drier skin the shinyness would help make their skin look dewy. The coverage goes on medium and is buildable to full coverage. A little bit of foundation goes a long way.

Cost: $25.00 CAD 10 g / 0.4 oz full size, $1.00 CAD 1 g / 0.03 oz sample size

Correctors:

Ingredients: Mica,  Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Silica, Boron Nitride, Iron Oxides, Ultramarines

I was hesitant to use colour correctors. Supposedly green is going to hide my red acne marks but I thought I would just end up looking like I smeared avocado all over my face. But I tried the green corrector and to my surprise it works! One thing to note, the colour correctors go best with the Pure Anada foundation. I tried the colour corrector with my regular Jane Iredale foundation and it was a little to obvious that I’d put something on my face to hide blemishes.

Loose Eye Shadows:

Ingredients: Mica,  Iron Oxides, Ultramarines, May contain: Titanium Dioxide

Love, love love their eyeshadows! They have three different types: luminous, velvet matte and pressed eye shadows.  The range of loose eyeshadows (luminous and velvet matte) is much larger than the pressed eyeshadow. But the colours are so beautiful and go on the eye really easily. They lasted a full work day on me without fading or creasing. The loose eyeshadow come in these little plastic pots with a sifter lid. You really only need the tiniest amount as the colour payoff is great. These eyeshadows will last me a long time.

Lip Gloss:

Ingredients: Butyrospermum Parkii Fruit (Unrefined, Organic, Shea Butter, Ricinus Communis (Organic Castor Seed Oil), Simmondsia Chinensis (Organic, cold pressed, Jojoba Seed Oil), Limnanthes Alba(Meadowfoam Seed Oil), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla Wax), Mica, Iron Oxides, Citrus Tangerina (Organic Tangerine Essential Oil).  May contain the minerals: Titanium Dioxide, and/or Zinc Oxide

Now this is a lip gloss I can use everyday! Strawberry cream was the colour I chose. It’s thick enough to provide almost the same intensity of colour as a regular lipstick, but with more shine. It’s not goopy and it doesn’t taste or smell funny. There is a good range of colours available and it’s quite affordable as well.

Lipstick:
Ingredients:  Ricinus Communis (Organic Castor Seed Oil), Simmondsia Chinensis (Organic, cold pressed Jojoba Seed Oil), Butyrospermum Parkii Fruit (Unrefined, Organic, Shea Butter), Limnanthes Alba (Organic Meadowfoam Seed Oil), Euphorbia Cerifera(Candelilla Wax), Copernicia Cerifera(Carnauba) Wax, Mica, Iron Oxides, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Citrus Tangerina (Organic Tangerine Essential Oil)

Great consistency in this lipstick. I bought Hibiscus to try and the colour is beautiful and rich.  Similar to the lipgloss it doesn’t taste or smell funny. Which is important to me if it’s going to be on my lips. After a while of wearing this though my lips tended to get a bit dry. So I would recommend using a really good, moisturizing lip balm beforehand.

Brows600
Eye Brow Powder:

Ingredients: Mica, Calcium Carbonate, Iron Oxides, Ultramarines, Titanium Dioxide

When I first got this I was worried it might look too dark and shiny on my eye brows. Disco eyebrows are fine at parties and going out dancing but not for the office! But they match perfectly with my natural shade and help fill in my sparse eyebrows without looking unnatural. I’ve read that putting a shade lighter on your brows compared to your hair colour help lift your face so I might try Coast (deep brown) next time.

I choose the gardenia scent. It smells so amazing and is very thick, moisturizing hand cream. It’s helped keep my hands hydrated during this winter despite the cold, dry weather. No hang nails anymore! Also comes in different scents such as: Lavender and Lemongrass. I’ll try the other scents next time I repurchase.

Conclusion: Give this line of makeup, skincare & body care products a try! It’s great stuff & a bonus that it’s a Canadian company.
