Flowers to Fragrance, Lavender and Geranium Cleansing LotionReview

This cleanser is a pleasure to use. It’s texture is creamy and the smell of the lavender and geranium is so soothing. It feels like a luxurious treat at the end of a long work day. I love that Flowers to Fragance is a family run business from rural Ontario. I love to shop local whenever I can, especially when the products are this great!

Flowers to Fragrance, Deodorant Spray in Citrus Lavender  – Review

Unfortunately this deodorant spray didn’t work too well for me once the weather warmed up significantly. It worked fine for me in the cooler weather but also didn’t last all day long. I’m also detoxing at the moment so maybe that has to factored in as well. Anyway I may not repurchase this since it didn’t work well for me.

Cost: $11.99 CAD, 250 ml / 1 oz

Lotus Wei, Joy Juice Mist and Inspired Action MistReview

I’ve loved Lotus Wei’s aromatherapy for quite a while now. I’ve tried other aromatherapy brands but I always seem to come back to Lotus Wei. There’s something very special about the vibrational and energetic qualities of Lotus Wei’s aromatherapy.  Besides the mists I’ve also reviewed their elixirs, serums and perfumes. I have no doubt I will be repurchasing again after I’ve finished off some the other aromatherapy I have in my stash.

Cost: $40.00 CAD, 50 ml / 2 oz

Marie Veronique Advanced, Serum Du Jour (sample) – Review

I finally finished my sample sized bottle of Serum Du Jour. I’m actually surprised how long it lasted. A small amount really goes a long way and helps to offset the price of the full sized bottle. Those on a budget should keep in mind that sometimes you get what you pay for. So pick and choose which items you want to splurge on. This serum is totally worth the price. I will repurchase this serum once I finish off some other serums I have in my cabinet. This sample was provided for review but all opinions expressed are my own.

Cost: Full Size, $90.00 USD, 30 ml / 1 oz

Marie Veronique Advanced, Eye Recovery Serum (sample) – Review

This was another sample provided for review but wow this one really blew my socks off. I can’t tell you how many under eye creams I’ve tried that did nothing at all for my dark circles. This product combined with the lightening serum proved to be a great duo for me. My under eye circles are almost gone. I’ve run out of the sample sized bottle that I was sent and now I’m planning on buying the full sized bottle soon.

Cost: Full Size, $75.00 USD, 15 ml / 0.5 oz
Available at: Marie Veronique, Lilou Organics

Marie Veronique Advanced, Luminous Lightening Serum (sample) – Review

I love, love, love this lightening serum. It worked so well for me that my hyperpigmentation spots are almost gone. I’ve already repurchased a full sized bottle of this serum after having finished the sample size they sent me for consideration.

Cost: Full Size, $110.00 USD, 30 ml / 1 oz

Herbaceutikals, Smooth On Lip BalmReview

This is a nice lip balm. I really love the simple ingredients list and knowing that all the ingredients are safe. I have so many lip balms at this point however that I may not be repurchasing for quite some time. But I do love the farm to product ethics of this brand.

Cost: $4.00 USD, 4 g / 0.15 oz

Sudsatorium, Luscious Clay Soap – No Review

One of my favourite local brands, Sudsatorium sells on etsy and is also available now at many stores within Toronto. The luscious clay soap was the first soap of theirs that I have tried. Though I’m a big lover of their conditioners, shampoo and lotions. Now I can say that I love their soaps as well. Besides making me smell heavenly, I loved the slightly gritty texture of the soap which was great for exfoliating. Plus the rhassoul and kaolin clay are amazing at keeping the skin detoxified and purified. This is one soap I’m definitely going to repurchase and if I really like you I’ll give it to you as a gift as well!

Cost: Small, $3.95 CAD, 50 g / 1.8 oz , Large, 100 g / 3.3 oz for $6.95)
Available at: Sudsatorium Etsy Shop, Upcoming Markets

Lotus Wei Mists and Perfume

I love aromatherapy and the results it can have on my psyche and body. As a person who is quite sensitive to my surroundings having things that are beautiful aid in keeping me calm and happy. Lotus Wei mists have become a part of my daily ritual and I love using them so much I thought I would share with you, my dear readers. Those who are very scent sensitive may not find these ideal but for me the mists are the mild since they are diluted with water. The perfumes much stronger since they use the essential oils suspended in grape alcohol.

Inspired Action Mist

Ingredients: Essential oils *Citrus aurantifolia (Lime), *Elettaria cardamomum (Cardamom), *Citrus Limon (Lemon), Schinus molle (Pink Pepper), Pimenta racemosa (Bay Rum), Pimenta dioica (Allspice), and hand-collected flower essences of Epidendrum radicans (Fire Star Orchid), Caesalpinia pulcherrima (Red Bird of Paradise), Kalanchoe tubiflora (Chandelier Succulent), Euphrasia nemorosa (Euphrasia), Nelumbo nucifera (Lotus), and gem essence of Fluorite in pure water. *Certified Organic.

This mist is great for getting rid of “mind fog” and helping you focus on the matter at hand. I like to start my day by misting myself with all the mists and this is the one I start with. It helps me jump start my day and wake up. On the weekends when I’m writing up my blog posts it helps me to get more done in a shorter amount of time. The smell is slightly citrusy with some floral notes. Dissolves: Procrastination, lack of follow through, feeling stuck, writer’s block, indecision, projects left undone, distracted mind.

Pure Energy Mist

Ingredients: Essential oils of Citrus paradisi (Grapefruit), *Cinnamomum zeylanicum (Cinnamon), Coffea Arabica (Coffee), *Piper nigrum (Black Pepper) and hand-collected flower essences of Punica granatum (Pomegranate), Achillea millefolium (Yarrow), Trifolium pretense (Red Clover), Crassula ovata (Jade Succulent), Nelumbo nucifera (Lotus) and gem essence of Black Tourmaline in pure waterCertified Organic

When I’m feeling exhausted and need energy to get through the day I reach for this mist. The citrus-spicey smell helps perk me up and somehow gives me enough energy to get through practically anything. Dissolves: Fatigue due to computer & cell phone use, travel, or radiation; accumulation of energies that are not your own; ; vulnerability, whether physically or energetically; taking on others’ stress; feeling invisible, weak, or not clear about what you want

Joy Juice Mist

Ingredients: Pure essential oils of Citrus sinensis (Sweet Orange), *Jasminum grandiflorum (Jasmine), *Artemisia pallens (Davana), Aniba rosaeodora (Rosewood),Tagetes minuta (Tagetes), *Citrus aurantifolia (Lime), and hand-collected flower essences of Spiraea tomentosa (Pink Spirea), Lotus corniculatus (Birdsfoot Lotus), Berlandiera lyrata (Chocolate Flower), Osteospermum ecklonis (African Daisy), Nelumbo nucifera (Lotus), and gem essence of Red Garnet in pure water. *Certified Organic.

Some days I take things too seriously. Joy juice mist helps lighten the mood and reminds me to take things with a grain of salt and laughter. This is one of the sweetest smelling mists that Lotus Wei has. It’s also a softer scent and reminds me more of conventional perfume in the scent profile. But it’s definitely not a conventional perfume in any way. Conventional perfumes don’t affect your mood like aromatherapy does because most conventional perfumes are made from synthetic ingredients. Which is why I love aromatherapy: you get to smell nice and reap the benefits of using essential oils. Dissolves: Seriousness, feeling the weight of responsibilities, worry, overcomplicating things, repressing your inner child.

Quiet Mind Mist

Ingredients: Essential oils of *Pelargonium graveolens (Geranium), Coriandrum sativum (Coriander), *Eugenia caryophyllata (Clove), *Citrus deliciosa (Mandarin), *Citrus limon (Lemon) and hand-collected flower essences of Strelitzia reginae (Bird of Paradise), Passiflora incarnata (Passionflower), Brugmansia arborea (Datura), Taraxacum officinale (Dandelion), Nelumbo nucifera (Lotus), and gem essence of Kyanite in pure water. *Certified Organic.

When my mind is racing and won’t shut up this mist helps to put a stop to the hamster wheel running in my brain. It’s like a pause button when I’m feeling stressed out! It’s not surprising that this mist contains a lot of citrus in it. The passion flower, lotus and bird of paradise help moderate the stimulating effects of the citrus essential oils so that your mind quiets but remains clear. Dissolves: Busy mind, mental chatter, restless sleep, physical tension (especially neck & shoulders), over-analyzing.

Infinite Love Perfume

Ingredients: Certified Organic *Vitus Vinifera (Grape Alcohol), essential oils of *Citrus deliciosa (Red Mandarin), *Pelargonium roseum (Rose Geranium), Monarda fistulosa (Monarda), Cymbopogon citrates (Lemongrass), Rosa damascena (Rose absolute), Rosa damascena (Rose Wax), and Apies millifera (Beeswax Absolute), and hand-collected flower essences of Bauhinia blakeana (Hong Kong Orchid), Epilobium augustifolium (Fireweed), Magnolia liliflora (Pink Magnolia), Hieracium aurantiacum (Hawkweed), Nelumbo nucifera (Lotus) and gem essence of Pink Tourmaline. *Certified Organic.

The scent is soft and sensual. It reminds me to be gentle with myself and to practise self-care when I’m not feeling well. I’m not normally a rose fan but I do love this blend. Dissolves: Irritation, being hard on yourself, hard heart, feeling attacked, resentment, anger, jealousy, codependency, giving away all your energy to others and forgetting your own needs, past trauma, breaking through old patterns.

Inner Peace Perfume

Ingredients: Certified Organic Vitus vinifera (Grape Alcohol), essential oils of *Lavandula angustifolia (Lavender), Coriandrum sativum (Coriander), *Juniperus communis (Juniper), *Pelargonium graveolens (Geranium), Cedrus atlantica (Cedar), and *Vetiveria zizanioides (Vetiver) and hand-collected flower essences of Lupinus arcticus (Arctic Lupine), Chorisia speciosa (Silk Floss), Sophora secundiflora (Mountain Laurel), Hibiscus rosasinensis (Hibiscus), Nelumbo nucifera (Lotus) and gem essence of Emerald. *Cerified Organic

This mist also helps me to cope when I’m stressed out but in a different way. After misting myself with this I feel like I don’t have to act like I’m the general manager of the universe. I remember to turn things over to God and relax. I don’t normally like vetiver either but combined with the other flower essences in this mist I can hardly smell it. Dissolves: High levels of stress and overwhelm; feeling a lack of support; anxiety, nervousness, heart palpitations, fear, lack of confidence, nervous about public speaking.

I’ve repurchased Lotus Wei‘s mists, perfumes, serums and elixirs many times before. After trying all the formats I’ve discovered I prefer the mists and perfumes over the serums and elixirs.

Cost: $40.00 CAD, 50 ml / 2 oz
Available at: Detox Market, Clementine Fields, Lotus Wei
Rating: 5/5

Note: There’s a new mist available only on the Lotus Wei website called Radiant Energy which is replacing the Pure Energy mist. I’m hoping it will soon be available in Canada!

Lotus Wei Inner Peace Elixir
Ingredients

“This special blend of hand-collected flower alchemy is all about inner peace. Experience more calm, peace, and confidence. Feel like you can take on any challenge, even when you have a lot on your plate and high levels of stress.”

The elixir is a light golden colour. If you put some of the drops on your tongue I can taste the honey & the grape alcohol.  I personally can’t taste the flower essences.  Recommended use is to put 5 drops on your tongue or add it to your drinks.  It’s funny how something so little can have such a wonderful effect.  I find that Inner Peace Elixir really helps me out when I’m feeling stressed. There are times when too many long days at work can get to you. I don’t always have time to meditate when I get home. So I just put a little of this elixir in my tea & it helps me unwind. I love this stuff! I have repurchased this bottle before & I would repurchase it again. I’ve also used Lotus Wei’s Quiet Mind elixir.  I like to pair Inner Peace & Quiet Mind for my night time unwinding ritual.  It’s quite effective. Lotus Wei even has an app where you can journal your experiences to see how each elixir, mist, serum or perfume affects you.  What about you? Have you ever tried flower essences before?

Product Review: @essenceofvali

NMDL had a Friday deal a while back with Essence of Vali so I totally took advantage of that & bought some of their mists. I’m the kind of person who’s easily affected by my senses. That means if something smells good, tastes good, feels good or looks good, I’m all over it! That’s one reason why I love aromatherapy so much. A good whiff of aromatherapy can change my mood & can trigger happy memories. For example, oranges remind me of sunshine & summer. So I was really looking forward to getting my paws on some new aromatherapy. I’d previously been using Lotus Wei, which can get quite expensive. I got six different mists from Essence of Vali to try. Note: All images are from the Essence of Vali website & all items reviewed below are available only on Essence of Vali.

eov-fortify_comfort_mist_shop_large

Fortify – Comfort Mist:
I don’t use this mist as much as the others. But it is a nice, grounding blend. Because of the tree essences I do find that it is grounding which in turn is soothing as well. On days when I’m too much in my mind & not in my body this helps me to remember to stop, take a deep breath & appreciate life. Essential oils used: cedarwood, rosewood & spruce.
Cost: $8.50 USD, 2 fl oz / 60 ml

eov-calm_mist_t_large

Calm – Relax Mist:
Nicely soothing. It’s close to sleep in that it has a relaxing effect on me. it’s great for enhancing the feeling of a lazy Sunday morning or just as an add-on to sleep before bedtime. Essenial oils used: lavender, orange & ylang ylang.
Cost: $8.50 USD, 2 fl oz / 60 ml

eov-refresh_energy_mist_t_large

Refresh – Energy Mist:
I keep this bottle at work in my desk drawer. I have to say this mist is one I keep reaching for. I like the combination of citrus oils & the smell is a nice little pick me up when I’m feeling in need of a little energy. Perfect for use at the office, especially in the afternoons when my energy tends to lag a bit. Helps me finish off my work day with a zing of energy. Essential oils used: orange, lemon & grapefruit.
Cost: $8.50 USD, 2 fl oz / 60 ml

eov-uplift_mood_mist_shop_large

Uplift- Mood Mist:
I can really smell the bergamot in this one. I like the smell of bergamot, it reminds me of a good cup of Earl Grey Tea. I keep this bottle at home & like to use it when I need to focus a little bit. Like when I’m writing blog posts! Essential oils used: lavender, spruce, bergamot & litsea cubeba.
Cost: $8.50 USD, 2 fl oz / 60 ml

eov-relief_ease_mist_shop_large

Relief – Ease Mist:
This one is great for sore muscles. The peppermint makes it smell a bit medicinal but it’s also cooling. I think this would be amazing to use in the summertime when I come home all sweaty & sore from a long hike in nature. Essential oils used: lavender, peppermint & birch.
Cost: $8.50 USD, 2 fl oz / 60 ml

eov-detox_renew_mist_shop_large

Detox – Renew:
This is the other one I use a lot as well. Must be the citrus smells that attracts me. But it does help with fatigue. I haven’t used it yet for jet lag as I haven’t traveled since I bought this. But I think Detox combined with Sleep would work very well for jet lag. Essential oils used: grapefruit, lemon, cypress & juniper.
Cost: $8.50 USD, 2 fl oz / 60 ml

I also received some free samples with my order of the mists. Below are my thoughts on the samples.

eov-sleep_mini_vials_shop_large

Sleep Mini Vial:
Now this really fits its name. I love, love, love Sleep & actually find it more soothing than Lotus Wei’s Quiet Mind & Inner Peace which I was using as my night time ritual before I got Essence of Vali. I love to put this on the inside of my wrists & breathe it in before bedtime.  Somehow the combination of scents helps me to unwind & stops the chatter in my head when I’m overstimulated from using the computer or iphone all day.  Essential oils used: lavender, marjoram, cedarwood & ylang ylang.
Cost: mini vial, $1.00 USD, 0.2 oz

eov-sleep_massage_oil_large
Image of full sized massage oil

Sleep Massage Oil:
I received a small sample size of this as well.  The massage oil version of Sleep is great as too. But I prefer the mini vial version or even the mist since I don’t have to wait too long for it to be absorbed into my skin. Essential oils used: lavender, marjoram, cedarwood & ylang ylang.
Cost: Full size, $13.00 USD, 2oz & $20.00 USD, 4oz

eov-passion_massage_oil

Passion Massage Oil:
The sample size of the passion massage oil is great. In my mind, it has a very soft, romantic type of scent. Maybe it should be called Romance instead? But then I can’t picture a guy picking up a bottle that says Romance on it to use as a massage oil. Ha ha. Passion sounds more manly.  Essential oils used: orange, ylang ylang, patchouli & ginger.
Cost: Full size, $15.00 USD, 2oz & $20.00 USD, 4oz

eov-eau_de_perfum_shop_large
Image of full sized EOV

EOV – A very nice smelling, more perfume-like scent. It’s strong but that can be good as it lasts throughout the day. Essential oils used: lavender, rosewood, cedarwood, patchouli, palmarosa, geranium, litsea cubeba & clove.
Cost: full size, $60.00 USD, 2oz

Overall impression:
I’m going to nitpick since it’s hard to find much wrong with Essence of Vali’s products.  Things I like about Essence of Vali is that it’s more affordable than some other aromatherapy lines out there & they ship promptly to Canada.  I also like that they have each scent in different formats (oil, mist, diffuser, balm, etc). But I find the different descriptions of each mist a little confusing. It would be nice if it just said Energy Mist or Refresh & not both. Simple is better in my books when I’m trying to decide what I need for the day. It’s nice when you pick up a product & don’t have to guess what it’s supposed to do. Also, Uplift & Refresh smell quite similar to my nose, as well as Detox & Calm.  So I would probably opt for buying one over the other.  On the other hand, it’s good to have more options if you want aromatherapy for a more specific use. Has anyone else tried Essence of Vali ? What did you think of it?

Lotus Wei: Mini Perfume Sampler and Elixirs

I was running out of perfume and I wanted to try something new. I’d heard about Lotus Wei on No More Dirty Looks. So I wandered onto Saffron Rouge and bought some of their products to try.

All images from: Lotus Wei

Mini Perfume Sampler:

See Lotus Wei website for ingredients for each item.

At $35 for six little bottles of perfume I think this was the perfect way to try the Lotus Wei collection without having to buy full size bottles. These would also be great for traveling. Keep in mind these are not only perfumes but flower essences for aromatherapy.  I was skeptical that they would really work but they did! It was hard for me not to sniff my wrists all day long. I especially like Joy Juice and Infinite Love.  Pure Energy was great at boosting my energy and lifting my spirits when I feel tired.  Inspired Action helps you keep your mind clear and focused. Inner Peace and Quiet Mind are great for before bedtime as they help you wind down for the night.

This tastes a bit like honey mixed in with the grape alcohol.  I like to have some of this in my tea before bedtime. It helps me to have a peaceful sleep and keeps my mind from chattering all night long. I feel soothed, relaxed and mellow when having this in the evenings.

Just what the name says, this will give you an energy boost when you need it! For the times when you don’t want to have caffeine but still need a lift in a natural way, this elixir is great! Just a note, this elixir is now called Radiant Energy on the Lotus Wei website. However here in Canada I haven’t seen any bottles with the new name.

Overall:

Lotus Wei‘s scents are addictive. The perfume blends are very appealing and combined in an interesting way. You can also layer the scents if you want to. On some days I will layer two to three scents that I need for the day.  The great thing about this is that you will never smell like every other lady who’s wearing perfume. I like the option of being original.  The elixirs are great too. I used to use Bach’s Flower Essences but there are too many of them and you have to buy so many little bottles to address all the areas you want to. But with the elixirs you can address what you want in a general way.  Feeling tired? Take Pure Energy. Need to focus? Take Inspired Action. You get the idea.
